| Montrealers are invited to come and view the public presentations by the finalists to the jury of the architecture competition for the building of the new indoor soccer complex at the Saint-Michel Environmental Complex (SMEC). This is a rare chance to discover the finalist teams' projects and hear the designers answer the jury's questions. After this stage, the jury will deliberate and choose the winning team, which will be then be tasked with designing this building so eagerly awaited by the Montréal soccer community. Online registration to the public presentations is free and mandatory (seats are limited). |

| The jury is meeting on October 27-28 to select the three winners of the YUL-MTL: Moving Landscapes International Ideas Competition. The winners will be announced in early November and the proposals will be unveiled during a public forum held at Palais des congrès de Montréal, on November 22. Three creteams of creators to change the face of winter at the Quartier des spectacles

| The winners of the Create Winter at Quartier des Spectacles competition to enhance public spaces with participatory installations have been unveiled. The goal of the competition was to produce three distinctive experiences throughout winter 2011, at Place Émilie-Gamelin, Place des Festivals and in the area near the Saint-Laurent métro station. A total of 38 project submissions by 27 creators were received during the initial phase of the competition. Members of the public will be able to explore the winning experiences from December 15, 2011, to February 26, 2012. |

| Helen Fotopulos, Ville de Montréal Executive Committee member responsible for Culture, Heritage, Design and the Status of Women, is heading a delegation currently attending the Taipei World Design Expo in Taiwan. The event is being organized in parallel with the inaugural congress of the International Design Alliance (IDA). Besides opening the door to new trade partnerships, the mission showcases several made-in-Québec design projects and provides opportunities for Mission Design to bolster support for the International Design Summit, coming to Montréal in 2017. |

The popular Montreal concept lands in Strasbourg

| The designers and businesses of the Alsatian capital will get a chance to raise their profile by entering the newly launched Commerce Design Strasbourg competition. The competition is following the blueprint of a concept created in Montreal that has already been adapted in several cities such as Saint-Étienne, New-York, Brussels, Eindhoven and Nantes. Marie-Josée Lacroix, Director of Ville de Montréal's Bureau du design, will chair the jury that will meet in March 2012. |
