jury chaired by architect Isabel Hérault chose this concept for its
bold, simple architectural identity. The members also appreciated the
elegance of the pavilion in its park setting, with an ample floating
wood roof structure covering the playing fields. The jury also awarded a
special mention to the firm Éric Pelletier Architectes for its concept,
which displayed remarkable functional resolution. You are invited to

Urban design competition Smith Promenade finalists announced! |
| |
| From
25 proposals submitted in the competition to develop the Smith
Promenade, in the Peel-Wellington portion of the Griffintown
neighbourhood, the jury has selected Atelier Ville Architecture Paysage
(VAP), Groupe IBI/DAA/CHBA, NIP Paysage and The Commons Inc as
finalists. In Stage 2 of the competition, the finalist firms will
complete their project teams and refine their proposals. In the spring,
citizens will be invited to a public presentation in the presence of the
jury. |

Design Competition Light Therapy in the Quartier des spectacles

| Until
February 26, 2012, the Quartier des spectacles invites the public to
explore interactive installations, called Light Therapy, in its public
spaces. Forêt Forêt and Éclats de Verre will light up the areas around
the Saint-Laurent métro station and Place Émilie-Gamelin respectively.
In addition, a series of 10 projections will light up the bell tower in
the Judith-Jasmin building of UQÀM, each lasting from two days to one
week. |

Urban design workshop WAT_UNESCO bequeaths 12 development visions for the city's gateway corridor

| Some
60 students and international experts in architecture, landscape
architecture and urban design took part in the urban design workshop
organized by the UNESCO Chair in Landscape and Environmental Design at
Université de Montreal from November 21 to December 1. Twelve
development visions aimed at creating a strong, distinctive cultural
identity for the city’s gateway corridor were unveiled. These proposals
will directly contribute to the ongoing work of the Autoroute 20 Gateway
Corridor Committee of Local Experts. |
