Light Therapy in Quartier des spectacles

LUMINOTHÉRAPIE: an annual showcase of talented artists whose works light up the Montreal winter and bring excitement to Quartier des Spectacles.

Luminothérapie turns Quartier des Spectacles into an open-air museum, inviting people of all ages to enjoy an interactive experience in a playful, festive winter setting.

Luminothérapie is a competition in which artists create 24-hour islands of life that help us enjoy winter. They are sensory, poetic, emotional and intellectual experiences that give pleasure and capture the imagination.

Participants are invited to create multidisciplinary teams, with the aim of promoting new cultural and artistic practices.

In this competition, Quartier des Spectacles encourages projects featuring diverse perspectives and creativity at the intersection of design, literature and the performing, visual and/or media arts.

The Ville de Montréal’s Bureau du design works with the Quartier des Spectacles Partnership in the preparation and operation of the annual competition. The competition is one of the commitments undertaken by the Ville de Montréal and the Partnership in the 2007-2017 Action Plan – Montréal, Cultural Metropolis, which includes the aim of promoting excellence in architecture and design while contributing to Montreal’s reputation as a UNESCO City of Design.
