Call for Entries-Architecture Competition for the New Saint-Laurent Library

Montréal, July 8, 2009—The Borough of Saint-Laurent has issued a call for entries regarding construction of a new library and exhibition centre in Saint-Laurent. The new building may also possibly house the Musée des maîtres et artisans du Québec’s collection conservation centre.

When the library opens at the end of 2012, it will provide citizens of Saint-Laurent with a new public space firmly anchored in the 21st century, enriched with all the latest technologies, focused on high-quality standards and reflecting the needs of the community. In short, it will be a green, multi-purpose cultural hub designed to a human scale.

In keeping with Montréal’s policy on sustainable development for municipal buildings, adopted this past June, LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Gold certification is being sought for the new building, which will have a gross area of approximately 6,070 m2.
